Wes vs Grayson, other rotation debates, and Milwaukee's seeding outlook
The Bucks Stock Market is focused on Milwaukee's win over the Celtics, but the post-game pod took a much wider look at the team ahead of the postseason.
The Milwaukee Bucks should've had an easier time handling the Boston Celtics than they did, but ultimately got the win and now have an inside track toward the second seed in the Eastern Conference.
The entire GSPN crew got together after the game to discuss the game itself plus bigger picture topics heading toward the postseason, including whether Wes Matthews or Grayson Allen should start, what the rotation will and should look like, and how Bobby Portis can be utilized against different teams. Then the episode concludes with an updated look at Milwaukee's seeding outlook, which may end up with a Brooklyn Nets series even earlier this time around.
The Bucks Stock Market is a fictitious market run by the GSPN crew that tracks player stock “movement” following the conclusion of every game. Here’s the spreadsheet logging the game-by-game results.
Bobby Portis📈
It was a magnificent outing for Portis, as he managed to effectively score the ball, shooting 7-11 from the field (3-4 from deep) en route to 17 points that the Bucks needed. I think the biggest part of his play though was his defense. Milwaukee was consistently switching ball screens involving Portis, and he held his own when in isolation against players like Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart.
Jrue Holiday📈
I’m running out of things to say about Jrue. He was precise on his drives, his passes, his shot selection, and his defense. When the Bucks started floundering in the second half, Holiday stepped up and delivered big bucket after big bucket. Jrue ended with a monstrous line of 29 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists, 3 steals, and a block on 52.6%/44.4%/62.5%(YUCK) shooting. Ridiculous.
The Milwaukee Bucks play the second half of their last back-to-back of the season on Friday, April 8 at 6 pm Central against the Detroit Pistons.
