The Packers went to Hollywood and a few stars were born while others continued to shine.
Their 24-19 victory was the runway for a lot of good performances including a few players who we’ve come to expect and a couple of surprise candidates.
As always, Jordan and I handed out their cheeses and added some players to the 2024 Cheeseboard.
Week 5’s candidates
Tucker Kraft: 4 catches (5 targets), 88 receiving yards, 2 TDs (75.3 PFF grade)
Xavier McKinney: 3 tackles (2 solo), 1 fumble recovery, 1 INT, 2 pass breakups (88.3 PFF grade)
Josh Jacobs: 19 carries, 73 rushing yards, 1 TD // 1 catch for 21 receiving yards (78.3 PFF grade)

Week 5 cheeses
🧀 Tucker Kraft 🧀
After his breakout performance against the Los Angeles Rams, Tucker Kraft was the talk of Green Bay — even his trash talk got coverage. The reality is that the rise of Tucker Kraft is in full swing and what many people covering the team alluded to when he is drafted — that Kraft could be the better tight end between him and Luke Musgrave — is coming true. Since the turn of the century, only three tight ends 23 or younger have posted a stat line of 140+ yards and three touchdowns over two games: Aaron Hernandez 12 times, Rob Gronkowski once and now Tucker Kraft. Being in the same breath as two of the elite tight ends on the football field of the 2010s is pretty high praise and Kraft is approaching that rarified air.
🧀 Xavier McKinney 🧀
Sooner or later Jordan and I are going to have a conversation about keeping McKinney here week in and week out because I am running out of things to say about the star safety — Jordan’s not though. Another game with an interception and a fumble recovery to boot, McKinney was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week. He’s just great. That’s all there is to it.
🧀 Edgerrin Cooper 🧀
The rookie linebacker out of Texas A&M gets his first cheese of his career — a high honor to be clear — with his great play. According to PFF, Cooper has three pressures and two sacks on only nine pass rushing snaps. He hasn’t been played the most snaps — only 87 through five weeks — but he’s been efficient and he pops off the screen when he is on the field. If he can keep improving, he’s going to keep earning cheeses.
