Watson, Dillon shine in Packers' 8th straight win over Bears
Gutey, LaFleur talk Rodgers' future, bye week mailbag!
The Bears still suck.
Man it feels good to say it.
Behind Christian Watson and AJ Dillon, the Packers won their 8th straight game versus the Chicago Bears on Sunday 28-19.
The defense had some warts — looking at you Jaire — but overall kept the Bears in check when it mattered the most in the fourth quarter as the Pack made their run.
As such, a few Packers earned a nice slice of Muenster this week as the Packers renewed their ownership of the Chicago Bears.
The Cheeseboard 🧀
Talk of the Tundra’s Cheeseboard is a season-long leaderboard tracking and ranking exceptional performances from Packers players in the form of cheeses 🧀, of which they are three: Muenster (🧀), pepper jack (🧀🧀) and an aged sharp cheddar (🧀🧀🧀). At the end of the season, we will recap the Cheeseboard and see who ends up being the team MVP.
Christian Watson 🧀
The man cannot be stopped. Watson is solidifying himself as a legitimate offensive rookie of the year candidate in the likes of Kenneth Walker, Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson. Two more touchdowns, one through the air on a crucial fourth down and one on the ground to ice the game late. That boy FAST. If he keeps this up — which is honestly unreasonable to ask, but he keeps doing it — I don’t think he’ll leave much choice with the voters to decide who gets the award.
AJ Dillon 🧀
Quadzilla had his best game of the year as he filled in for Aaron Jones who was battling a nagging injury that game. Eighteen carries for 93 yards including a 21-yard touchdown. His 5.2 yards per carry were certainly noticed as he continued pushing the pile to get every yard he could. After having an up and down year where he saw his usage mimic a parabolic arc, it was refreshing to see AJ Dillon utilized to the best of his ability.
De’Vondre Campbell 🧀
In his first game back, the Packers’ captain made his presence known leading the team in tackles with 10 and stopping the run. If you take out Justin Fields 55-yard touchdown, the Packers allowed 100 yards rushing. Not ideal, but certainly not bad. It didn’t show too much in the stat sheet or on PFF, but Campbell was stuffing holes and picking up blockers allowing his teammates to blow up run plays all game. Having ‘Dre back the rest of the season should hopefully show signs of improvement in the run game.
The whole offensive line 🧀
The line played very well this week only allowing two pressures as a unit — one attributed to Josh Myers and one to Zach Tom, who filled in for David Bakhtiari who had an appendectomy. For keeping Rodgers upright all game and opening up holes for AJ Dillon. Yosh Nijman, Elgton Jenkins, Josh Myers, John Runyan and Zach Tom all earn a slice of delicious Muenster cheese.
