Talk of the Tundra's Week 7 Cheeseboard
The Green Bay Packers' 24-22 win over the Houston Texans saw an interesting array of standout performers carry them to victory.
The Green Bay Packers eked out a 24-22 win over the Houston Texans last Sunday at Lambeau Field.
In a week dominated by a suffocating defensive performance and getting a huge lift from unlikely sources, the Packers had a wide array of deserving candidates vying for this week’s cheeseboard.
With the help of a vacationing Numac, I went and handed out cheeses to the Packers’ standout performers from their signature win of the season!
Week 7’s candidates
Jordan Love: 24-for-33, 220 passing yards, 3 TDs, 2 INTs, 95.9 passer rating (72.2 PFF grade)

Week 7 Cheeses
🧀Eric Wilson🧀
Eric Wilson has a knack for the dramatics. Coming on the field to replace starting Packers LB Quay Walker, Wilson was a menace around the ball in the Packers’ win over Houston. He stuffed the shat sheet with six tackles — all of those being solo — posted two sacks, four tackles for losses, earned a crucial pass breakup on a 3rd down. He was the Packers’ highest graded defender, per PFF. Coming to rescue and making a number of impactful plays was all in a day’s work for the veteran linebacker.
🧀Rashan Gary🧀
It’s about time that the Packers’ star pass rusher enjoyed a performance like he put in for Week 7. Gary’s usage, production and overall influence on the Packers’ pass rush was integral in how Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud struggled in ways he hadn’t done previously in his young NFL career. 5 tackles — two of those being solo — a sack, a tackle for loss and three QB hits went a long way in breaking up Gary’s string of slumping performances. Let’s hope we see more games like that from Gary moving forward.
🧀Daniel Whelan🧀
A punter? A PUNTER?! Yes, a PUNTER is getting a cheese, especially when Daniel Whelan is booming punts and setting the Texans back deep in their territory with every kick. 5 punts, 284 punt yards and an average of 56.8 yards per punt is elite stuff from the second-year Packers punter and Whelan has established himself as a true special teams weapon. His clutch hold from a bad snap on the Packers’ game-winning field goal was only icing on the cake. Not bad for the man they call Irish Spring (I’m trying to make it a thing).
