PODCAST: Recapping the first game of the title defense preseason.
We got to see the unproven guys in Bucks vs Grizzlies preseason basketball.
The Milwaukee Bucks are back in action, which means Gyro Step Podcast Network postgame pods are back as well! Rohan and I sat down right after the Bucks lost an abridged preseason game to the Memphis Grizzlies to dive deep on every Buck who played, especially Jordan Nwora, Sandro Mamukelashvili, and Grayson Allen, who we are very excited about.
Before we got into the basketball that did occur we went through a brief injury update on Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, Jrue Holiday, Bobby Portis, Semi Ojeleye, and Rodney Hood, who all sat out on Tuesday night.
The tl;dr is we aren’t too worried about any of these guys, although it’d sure be nice to hear Giannis practiced at least. As expected, Milwaukee will be extremely cautious in the title defense season, much less the title defense preseason.
As for the game itself, before it got called after the third quarter due to an errant fire alarm in FedEx Forum, we had a surprisingly good time watching none of the Bucks best three players! Honestly this game was probably more important with those guys sitting, since a lot of players jockeying for end of the rotation spots got a chance to showcase what they could do against real NBA competition (the only rotation player on Memphis to miss the game was Dillon Brooks).
I would be remiss to not mention friend of the program Johnny O’Bryant looking like a true stretch 5 in his five minutes of basketball — let JOB play more next game, Bud!
Enjoy the podcast everybody, and welcome to the 2021-22 Milwaukee Bucks season of coverage here at GSPN.
