PODCAST: Jrue Holiday shines as the Bucks are plagued with injury and a literal plague
It turns out it's a helpful thing to have multiple star level players on the same team.
The Milwaukee Bucks are once again down several rotation players for a stretch of multiple games, as injuries and COVID protocols held out seven players on Wednesday including Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton. It’s not great!
Thankfully Jrue Holiday stepped up and showed why he's a deserving max player, leading the Bucks to a nice win over the Indiana Pacers. We decided to show him some love on the latest Gyro Step podcast, where Rohan and I broke down all that the Bucks are dealing with plus Jrue's strong play and chance to be an All-Star this year after all.
It still seems entirely possible that the Bucks will be a top-2 team in the East and only get one All-Star, which would stink, although it’s not easy to make a strong case for Khris Middleton right now. Jrue could wind up getting in via the coaches’ picks, especially if he can carry the Bucks to more wins as he did against Indiana.
We also answered a listener question on Donte DiVincenzo potentially signing a Bucks-friendly contract that is similar to Steph Curry’s in Golden State. While I don’t think anybody foresees Donte becoming a superstar or the greatest shooter ever, I do think there’s merit to the question, and we had fun discussing it.
