PODCAST and Bucks Stock Market: There is no need to panic about the Milwaukee Bucks.
We explain why, despite a slow start, things are still looking up for the Bucks.
R-E-L-A-X. Five letters that house a ton of meaning, famously said by a currently infamous Wisconsin athlete, that perfectly fit how we feel about the 2021-22 Milwaukee Bucks.
The Bucks managed to beat the somehow even more depleted Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday night, but it was quite the struggle to take down a team without Joel Embiid, Tobias Harris, Seth Curry, and of course Ben Simmons.
Still, it’s time to kick back, chill out and, well, trust the Bucks' process this season. On the podcast right after the game, we recap the win, go over our many reasons for not being worried about the slow start, and talk way too close to the microphone when we imitate Aaron Rodgers' famous proclamation. Fortunately we didn’t imitate any of his more recent takes uttered on the airwaves.
The Bucks Stock Market is a fictitious market run by the GSPN crew that tracks player stock “movement” following the conclusion of every game. Here’s the spreadsheet logging the game-by-game results.
The Milwaukee Bucks and Philadelphia 76ers faced up in a game where both teams were severely depleted due to injury and the health and safety protocols, though it was still entertaining! Philly’s young guys stepped up in a big way to take a double-digit lead in the first half, but the GA’s just refused to let their team down. Let’s get into the movements!
Giannis Antetokounmpo📈
He takes the Philly matchup personally. Even though the Bucks and Sixers have never met in the playoffs during the Giannis-Embiid era (Philly’s fault, lol), Antetokounmpo always has elite games in this matchup, with Tuesday’s game being no different. Giannis took over in the second half and refused to let Milwaukee lose as he dominated both offensively and defensively.
Grayson Allen📈
This man is just ridiculously potent on the offensive end. By hitting threes off the catch and off the dribble, finishing at the rim, and nailing floaters, Allen showed off his entire scoring arsenal. With Khris still out in the health and safety protocols (get well soon!), Grayson has been up to the challenge of being Milwaukee’s second best scoring threat.
Semi Ojeleye📈
OMG HE CAN SCORE!!!!! After starting 1-13 from deep in his first five games this season, Ojeleye was scorching hot from three against Philly and didn’t miss any of his three attempts. He still looks a bit lost on both ends of the court, but if his shot is going down, we can’t really complain.
Justin Robinson📉
After stringing together a bunch of solid performances, Robinson had a ROUGH outing on Tuesday. His bad shooting night was one thing, but the decision making just wasn’t there on his shots and did not pass the ball too well. He was also getting a bit targeted on the defensive end, so just a bad night overall.
You won’t have to wait long for the Bucks’ next game — they take on the Knicks on Wednesday night in the third of five games on this East Coast road trip.
