Malik Willis earned his first win as a starting quarterback against the Indianapolis Colts thanks in large part to standout performances from Josh Jacobs and the defense overall.
They left their first game at Lambeau Field in 2024 with a win to get to 1-1 on the season and tread water as Jordan Love recovers from his strained MCL.
As always, Jordan and I handed out their cheeses and added some players to the 2024 Cheeseboard.
Week 1’s candidates

Week 2 cheeses
🧀 Josh Jacobs 🧀
Josh Jacobs is an obvious recipient for the cheeseboard this week as he ran all over the Colts defense and was an important part of the Packers game plan to ease Malik Willis into his starting role. If not for a holding penalty on Rasheed Walker and his own miscue fumbling the ball at the goal line, Jacobs would’ve single handedly put this game away for the Packers before halftime.
🧀 Eric Wilson🧀
Eric Wilson’s case for a cheese comes down to one thing: efficiency. In eight snaps against the Colts, he had an interception, a forced fumble and a critical tackle defending the option against Anthony Richardson and Trey Sermon. In a linebacker room filled with young potential, Eric Wilson has been a model for veteran presence swinging games.
🧀 Xavier McKinney 🧀
Through two games, Xavier McKinney has shown why he is one of the best safeties in the league and why the Packers were justified in giving him his massive contract after he as cut by the New York Giants. With two interceptions and multiple pass break-ups, his presence deep in the coverage game and his ability to limit big plays downfield is exactly what the Packers needed. If he keeps this up, he’s going to build quite the name for himself in a similar manner to another all-time great corner: Charles Woodson.
