Christian Yelich heads to the IL with return of back issues, plus Brewers beat the Cubs at Wrigley

The Milwaukee Brewers have completed their season series with the Chicago Cubs and they’ve come away with an 8-5 advantage in season one of the “Craig Counsell Derby”. The Cubs flummoxed the Brewer bats on Monday to win the first game of the series 3-1, but The Crew would bounce back.
Tuesday featured a fearsome pitching battle with Colin Rea and four Milwaukee relievers combining in a 1-0 shutout win. On Wednesday, the Brewers saved the heroics for late. William Contreras’ 9th inning double gave the Brewers a 3-2 lead and Joel Payamps closed things down to wrap up the series win.
Of course, the big news of the week is the concern surrounding Christian Yelich’s back issues. For now, it appears that Yelich will avoid surgery and attempt to rest and rehab, but the proposition of off-season surgery still exists.
This weekend the Brewers will host the Miami Marlins, as Tuesday’s trade deadline looms,
