Bucks Stock Market: The Bucks boogie to an intense win over the Hornets
LaMelo Ball put on a show, but Giannis reminded us all he is the best in the world.
The Bucks Stock Market is a fictitious market run by the GSPN crew that tracks player stock “movement” following the conclusion of every game. Here’s the spreadsheet logging the game-by-game results.
What. A. Game.
The Milwaukee Bucks held on for dear life as the Charlotte Hornets assailed them with a barrage of three-pointers, but the Bucks got the win thanks to Giannis Antetokounmpo asserting himself as the best in the world with a display of force game winning bucket.
In addition to Giannis putting on a show and the Bucks Big Three moving to 10-0 on the season, with a dominant point differential, Wednesday night’s game also served as DeMarcus Cousins’ debut, and it was awesome. Without further ado let’s get to the stocks.
Giannis Antetokounmpo 📈
40 points, 12 rebounds, 9 assists, 1 steal, and 1 game winner. 15/24 from the field, 9/13 from free throw. The fact that this game isn’t that unusual for Giannis speaks to how incredible he is. This was an all-time great asserting himself and pulling out a win where one probably shouldn’t have been found. It never gets old that one of those players calls Milwaukee home again.
DeMarcus Cousins 📈
BOOGIE! I am completely swept up in Boogie Fever despite all of my efforts to remain rational and not get too excited about the signing. Cousins looked like a perfect fit in his Bucks debut, finding the right spots on both ends and contributing 7 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal while making 3 of his 5 shots and 1 of his 2 attempted threes. He immediately took Rodney Hood’s minutes (finishing with 14 to Hood’s 5) and for good reason — he had a big time positive impact.
Jon Horst 📈
Jon Horst probably deserved an upstock earlier in the year, after a great Grayson Allen game, but No. 37 and Rodney Hood not looking great may have dampened some of that optimism. Nevertheless, for the Grayson trade and extension and the Boogie signing he definitely deserves one now.
Mike Budenholzer 📈
This man called a “get Giannis a head of steam and get the hell out of the way” play to win the game. How could he NOT get an upstock? Also feeding Boogie more minutes that he clearly deserved helped swing the victory, even if Milwaukee’s defense gave up too many threes to the red hot Hornets.
The Bucks next game is tomorrow! Or maybe even tonight by the time you’re reading this. They take on the Toronto Raptors in the second night of a back to back at 6:30 in Toronto.
