Bucks Stock Market: The Bucks assert their dominance in a beatdown of the Warriors
Giannis and the rest of the starters shined as they dominated Golden State.
The Bucks Stock Market is a fictitious market run by the GSPN crew that tracks player stock “movement” following the conclusion of every game. Here’s the spreadsheet logging the game-by-game results.
The Milwaukee Bucks reminded everybody they are the rightful reigning champions on Thursday night as they demolished the Golden State Warriors, leading by as many as 39 points and putting up the second most dominant first half in Bucks history. The first most dominant also occurred this season. Some of the games have been ugly during this mess of a season, but make no mistake that Milwaukee’s fastball is still very much real, even without Jrue Holiday and Brook Lopez.
Grayson Allen 📈
Grayson Allen had been having a rough go of it over the last month or so, but it was hard to tell on Thursday night. He made 6/10 shots and 3/7 threes on his way to a 15 point performance, while also adding 5 rebounds, 2 steals, and a block. It was awesome to see a game like this from Grayson.
Wes Matthews 📈
Wes continued to be super efficient, making 2 of his 3 attempted shots (all triples) for the night, but this upstock is fueled by defense. After taking shifts on Kevin Durant in the last Nets game, this time Wes guarded Steph Curry, and played a huge role in Steph only managing 12 points on 4/11 shooting. It’s hard to comprehend how good Wes has been in his role since signing in Milwaukee.
Khris Middleton 📈
This was a dynamite performance from Khris Middleton, who played like he had something to prove against Klay Thompson and the Warriors. Khris posted an easy 23 points, plus 5 rebounds, 7 assists, and a steal. He had a pair of silly turnovers, but they were his only two turnovers of the night, which isn’t bad at all considering all the dimes he dished and shots he made.
Bobby Portis 📈
Bobby Buckets started hot and had the Fiserv Forum crowd going crazy, especially when he beat the buzzer to end the second quarter with a dynamic pull-up three, after which he Curry Shimmied for what felt like an hour. It’s hard to not love Bobby at any point, but it’s especially hard when he posts 20 points, 7 rebounds, 1 steal, and 1 block on 8/16 shooting and makes 4 of his 7 threes.
Giannis Antetokounmpo 📈
We really saved the best for last here. Giannis Antetokounmpo knew he could dominate the Draymond Green-less Warriors all night long so that’s exactly what he did, posting his 28th career triple-double: Giannis put up 30 points (on 17 shots), 12 rebounds, 11 assists, and three blocks in under 30 minutes of action. To put it simply, he’s the best in the world.
The Bucks are back in action on Saturday evening, as they take on the Toronto Raptors in Milwaukee at 5:30 pm.
