Bucks Stock Market: Shorthanded Bucks dominate Brooklyn
In a clash of East heavyweights, the Milwaukee strike the knockout blow.
The Bucks Stock Market is a fictitious market run by the GSPN crew that tracks player stock “movement” following the conclusion of every game. Here’s the spreadsheet logging the game-by-game results.
So let me get this straight, the Milwaukee Bucks were missing Jrue Holiday, George Hill, Grayson Allen, Pat Connaughton, and Mike Budenholzer due to health and safety protocols, Donte DiVincenzo and Brook Lopez were out due to injury, the only Net out to protocols/injury was Joe Harris, Giannis was in foul trouble for the entire first half, and the Bucks won by
This was such a fun game to take in as a Bucks fan. Almost every single player contributed in a meaningful way, and Milwaukee is back to looking like the juggernaut that they are. Let’s talk movements!
Khris Middleton📈
Yeah, he’s back. The second half we witnessed from Khris Middleton is the Khris Middleton that we know and love. He was hitting his shots, looked engaged defensively, and proved once again that he is that dude.
Giannis Antetokounmpo📈
Like I mentioned up top, Giannis had foul trouble in the first half. Picking up three fouls limited him to only 11 minutes in the first two quarters, but he still managed to put up 31 points, 7 rebounds, and 9 assists. What stood out to me about Antetokounmpo’s performance in this game was his passing. He had a handful of no-look bullet passes that made my jaw drop as I was watching. Somehow, this man is continuing to improve his game. MVP number three might be on the way…
Bobby Portis📈
The way that Milwaukee was able to get through the first half tonight with a double-digit lead was due to Bobby Buckets. He had 20 points in the first half to lead all scorers. Let me say that again, Bobby Portis had 20 points in the FIRST HALF TO LEAD ALL SCORERS. After being benched in the series against Brooklyn last postseason, Portis is letting everyone know that he can play next time around.
Sandro Mamukelashvili📈
With Boogie gone (😢), Mamu is now seeing regular rotation minutes as a bench big, and it is actually going fairly well! He was very active on the offensive glass, giving Milwaukee more possessions. That type of impact is especially important when playing a high-powered offensive team like Brooklyn.
Rodney Hood📈
Big Rod has been looking so much better over the last few weeks. Aside from a few questionable shot attempts off the dribble, Hood was especially effective against the Nets. With the guard rotation decimated, Hood has taken up more ball handling responsibilities and is showing off his pre-injury probing prowess.
Semi Ojeleye📉
I do not understand how it was possible for a player to be as bad as Semi was in such little time. Immediately upon checking into the game, he barely hit rim on a corner three off of a gorgeous assist from Giannis and then went down the floor to commit a foul within five seconds. Like, what’s the point?
The Milwaukee Bucks continue their road trip with the first of two games in a row against the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday at 6:00pm central.
