Bucks Stock Market: Overwhelming the Mavericks
The Bucks Big Three are really good at basketball.
The Bucks Stock Market is a fictitious market run by the GSPN crew that tracks player stock “movement” following the conclusion of every game. Here’s the spreadsheet logging the game-by-game results.
In tonight’s edition of “Is This a Really NBA Game?”, the Milwaukee Bucks squared off against the Dallas Mavericks on the second night of a back-to-back on the road. The Bucks had five players out, while the Mavs were missing TEN players. Instead of seeing Giannis, Khris, and Jrue versus Luka, Porzingis, and Tim Hardaway Jr., we got to see Khris, Jrue, and DeMarcus versus Jalen Brunson, Frank Ntilikina, and Dwight Powell. Let’s talk movements!
Khris Middleton 📈
Yeah, he’s back. Playing in his second game after missing three straight with a knee injury, Middleton is starting to re-gain his All-Star form. Pouring in 26 points, 5 rebounds, and 7 assists, Khris was getting to his spots and making the Mavs defense pay. Also, it isn’t going unnoticed that Middleton attempted eight free throws tonight.
DeMarcus Cousins 📈
It’s hard not to root for this guy. Seeing him put up a season-high 22 points to go along with 8 rebounds and 4 assists was impressive considering that the Mavericks were playing some quick centers that is the exact type of matchup to give Cousins some trouble.
Boogie has really stepped up with Giannis, Bobby, Mamu, and Brook all out and that should be appreciated, not qualified. Sure, he might not have a role when this team is fully healthy, but that isn't reality. This team isn’t healthy and likely will not be healthy for the majority of this season, so DeMarcus is going to be playing minutes. And from what we’ve seen these last few games, it looks like that is good for the Bucks.
Jrue Holiday 📈
Jrue is really making a push for an All-Star team with his play of late. Over his last four games, Holiday is averaging 28.5 points, 5 rebounds, and 9 assists. Those four games have all been without Giannis, and it looks like Jrue trying his best to replicate the production of Giannis on the court. He’s applying great rim pressure with his ability to back anyone down (I’m convinced that Jrue could at least get a decent shot off when posting up a guy like Boban) and facilitating really well. Oh, and he’s also still one of the best, if not the best, defensive player in the league.
The Milwaukee Bucks will be back in action on Christmas Day, taking on the Boston Celtics at home at 1:30 p.m. central.
