Bucks Stock Market: Milwaukee takes care of business against the Knicks
Giannis and company rewarded fans who stayed up late with a nice, solid win.
The Bucks Stock Market is a fictitious market run by the GSPN crew that tracks player stock “movement” following the conclusion of every game. Here’s the spreadsheet logging the game-by-game results.
Saying the Milwaukee Bucks needed a win after their stinker against the Cavs on Wednesday may be dramatic, but it’s definitely fair to say a good victory hit the spot after the bad loss earlier in the week. Hell, they looked so bad against the Cavs I made a whole video about why Milwaukee had been struggling!
Thankfully Giannis took it upon himself to deliver a better night for Bucks fans on Friday, despite the very late start to accommodate ESPN, and turned in one of his best performances of the season as Milwaukee outlasted the Knicks 123-108. The Bucks had a strong first half lead that evaporated, but still managed to cruise to a win without too much fourth quarter drama.
Giannis Antetokounmpo 📈
Giannis reminded everybody not to hand the 2021-22 MVP to Nikola Jokic just yet on Friday night. The Greek Freak dropped 38 points, 13 rebounds, 5 assists and a steal as he dominated New York in just 34 minutes — some bogus fouls (he ended with 5 personals) limited Giannis more than anybody on the Knicks did. He shot 63% from the field, made 2 of his 6 attempted threes, and was 12/16 from the charity stripe as well. Giannis’ determination to notch the win was obvious, and he really took over in the fourth quarter.
Jrue Holiday 📈
Jrue dominated the Knicks. Holiday managed 24 points, 5 rebounds, 10 assists and a steal, and only turned the ball over once while shooting 53/44/100 on the night. It’s hard to be much better than that as a starting point guard, especially given the stellar defense Jrue provides — no matter what happens with All-Star selections, we know Jrue is a legitimate star guard with an outsized impact on winning basketball games.
Milwaukee is back in action on Sunday night, when the Denver Nuggets come to town to face off with the Bucks at 6 pm Central. There will be good football on, but don’t miss the battle of the MVPs!
