Bucks Stock Market: Milwaukee sleepwalks to an L in Charlotte
Giannis turned it on in the fourth quarter, but it was too little, too late to get the win.
The Bucks Stock Market is a fictitious market run by the GSPN crew that tracks player stock “movement” following the conclusion of every game. Here’s the spreadsheet logging the game-by-game results.
The Charlotte Hornets always seem to give the Milwaukee Bucks trouble, so predictably with so many players still out and on the second night of a back-to-back the Bucks struggled for much of their game in Charlotte on Saturday night. Thanks to some Giannis Antetokounmpo heroics the game got pretty close in the latter stages, but ultimately Giannis couldn’t do enough to get the win as the Bucks dropped the third of their last four games.
Giannis Antetokounmpo 📈
Let’s get the good news out of the way — after coasting for most of the first three quarters, Giannis put together one of his most impressive performances of the season against Charlotte late. The Greek Freak ended with 43 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, and 2 blocks, and shot an eye-popping 18/20 from the free throw stripe, plus 3/6 from three. It’s too bad the rest of the Bucks wasted such a dominant Giannis game.
Jordan Nwora 📉
Next time you see somebody ask why Jordan Nwora doesn’t play more, you can point directly to this game. Despite an ice cold shooting night that saw him finish 1/11 from the field, Nwora continued pulling tough shots and couldn’t find other ways to reliably contribute to the team. Giannis basically stopped passing to him for most of the second half despite being regularly triple teamed.
Rodney Hood 📉
Big Rod had looked good for a few games, especially against the Nets, but he was terrible against the Hornets. In 18 and a half minutes Hood managed to miss 5 shots, grab 1 rebound, block 1 shot, and turn the ball over once. Yikes.
Langston Galloway 📉
There’s a reason Galloway has been bouncing from team to team on hardship 10 day contracts. He’s got a good handle and can defend pretty well, but offers very little offensively, as he also missed all five of his shots.
The Bucks are back in action Monday night, against the Hornets once more, in Charlotte at 6 pm. Let’s hope they get some guards back by then.
