Bucks Stock Market: Giannis-less Bucks lose a heartbreaker
Milwaukee's winning streak comes to a halt north of the border.
The Bucks Stock Market is a fictitious market run by the GSPN crew that tracks player stock “movement” following the conclusion of every game. Here’s the spreadsheet logging the game-by-game results.
For the second time in as many nights, the Milwaukee Bucks found themselves in game that came down to the wire. However, the Bucks found themselves on the losing end of this one as they couldn’t quite make the comeback. The first half started out terribly, with everyone bricking shots left and right, but as soon as they started making an effort in the second half, nothing went their way. Tough officiating for both teams coupled with poor rebounding from Milwaukee led to this loss, which is why there isn’t a whole lot of movement from this game.
Sandro Mamukelashvili📈
This game is a perfect example of why trying to glean information from single-game plus-minus isn’t the best strategy. Despite being a team-low -12, Mamu showed a lot in his performance. With Brook now out indefinitely after undergoing back surgery (get well soon, big fella), DeMarcus Cousins working his way into NBA shape, and Bobby Portis not being an ideal center, there is a chance that Sandro can enter the rotation if he proves he’s capable.
Against Toronto, Mamu showed that he’ll fight for offensive rebounds, get the ball to the right spots, and hit some shots in the paint. He’s still timid while shooting, but that can be expected from someone trying to enter the rotation. This was by far his best game as a pro and hopefully there’s more to come.
The Bucks next game will be a special one, as P.J. Tucker gets to receive his championship ring on Saturday in Fiserv Forum.
