Bucks Stock Market: Electrifying win over the Hornets
For the first time in what feels like forever, the Bucks had really fun win.
The Bucks Stock Market is a fictitious market run by the GSPN crew that tracks player stock “movement” following the conclusion of every game. Here’s the spreadsheet logging the game-by-game results.
Coming off of two straight losses against the Philadelphia 76ers and the Brooklyn Nets, the Bucks seemed to get their mojo back in a blowout win over the Charlotte Hornets. After the first quarter ended in a tie, the Bucks showed their dominance with a 44-point second quarter and never looked back. They even won the third quarter! This felt like a regular season game from the first two years of the Budenholzer era, where it was just three quarters and then garbage time, and it felt good. Let’s talk movements!
Giannis Antetokounmpo📈
Giannis is just a cheat code against smaller teams like the Hornets. They don’t have anything close to the combination of size and mobility needed to slightly slow him down, so the reigning Finals MVP feasted against this defense. This stat alone is a reason for an up stock.
Jrue Holiday📈
This man has been on fire from deep recently. 5-8 from three (let’s just ignore the 2-7 shooting inside the arc) is ridiculously good, and is continuing a trend. Over the last month, Jrue has only shot below 40% from three in a game three times. Over that same span, he’s shot above 60% from three in a game four times.
Bobby Portis📈
Following his explosive performance on Saturday against the Nets, The People’s Champ put up one of the quietest 20-10 games that I have seen, but it did not go unnoticed. His energy and ability to create offensive for himself were crucial in allowing the Bucks’ lead to balloon in the second quarter.
DeAndre’ Bembry📈
Yeah, he can play. It’s not just the defensive intensity of trying to lock guys up full court that I enjoyed, its the offensive savvy. Sure, he’s shooting above 40% from three on the year, but that’s not his game, nor should it be. On offense against the Hornets, he was throwing no-look dimes to trailers in transition and cutting from the weak side for duck-in layups, which is exactly the type of movement that this Bucks offense needs.
The Bucks will play host to the East-leading Miami Heat in their next game on Wednesday, March 2nd at 7:00pm central.
