Bucks Stock Market: Cruising through the Thunder
OKC was the latest victim of the Milwaukee Bucks buzzsaw.
The Bucks Stock Market is a fictitious market run by the GSPN crew that tracks player stock “movement” following the conclusion of every game. Here’s the spreadsheet logging the game-by-game results.
The Milwaukee Bucks extended their winning streak to five games as they handled the short-handed Oklahoma City Thunder on the road 142-115. It was announced less than two hours before tip that Luguentz Dort, Ty Jerome, and Mike Muscala all underwent season-ending surgery, so it’s safe to say this Thunder team wasn’t quite at the same competition level as some of the teams the Bucks have played recently. Let’s talk movements!
Giannis Antetokounmpo📈
Oklahoma City had no player that was capable of impeding Giannis in the slightest, and my goodness did it show. In only 27:46 of playing time, Giannis put up a casual 39 points on 64.4/100(!!!!)/69.2 shooting splits, while also tallying 7 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 steals, and a block. That is absolutely ridiculous.
It was the three-point shooting that stood out from the reigning Finals MVP tonight, as he was a perfect 4-4 from deep, including this deep pull-up to beat the first half buzzer.
Jevon Carter📈
When his shot is going in, Jevon Carter is a perfect fit for this Bucks team. With George Hill still out due to a neck injury (please get well soon), Carter has stepped up in a big way. He has been a tenacious point-of-attack defender since he signed with Milwaukee, but his offensive performance of 4 made threes and 4 assists tonight showed that he capable of being an all-around player who can make an impact when the games matter most.
Serge Ibaka📈
Serge made an impact against the team with which he began his career. Coming off a strong offensive performance in the last game against Phoenix, Ibaka played well on both ends of the court tonight. He had an efficient scoring night, going a nice 6-9 from the field for 14 points while pulling in 7 rebounds and getting two Iblockas. While the counting stats don’t jump off the page, Ibaka seems to be getting more and more comfortable within this team’s scheme, which is a great sign as the playoffs are on the horizon.
The Milwaukee Bucks have a back-to-back and will take on the Atlanta Hawks at home on Tuesday, March 9th at 7:00pm central.
