Bucks Stock Market: Cruising past the Clippers
Milwaukee was able to overcome Norman Powell's outburst to secure the win.
The Bucks Stock Market is a fictitious market run by the GSPN crew that tracks player stock “movement” following the conclusion of every game. Here’s the spreadsheet logging the game-by-game results.
A day after shellacking the Portland Trail Blazers, the Milwaukee Bucks continued in their role of grim reaper during this west coast road trip as they visited the revamped LA Clippers and dropped 137 points for the second time in as many nights. Though the Clippers made it close in the beginning of the fourth quarter, Milwaukee was able to pull away due to dominant paint play as well as hot shooting from three. Let’s talk movements!
Pat Connaughton📈
A big reason why the Bucks were able to pull away in this game was due to Planet Pat. In the third quarter, Connaughton erupted. He hit four threes in that period alone, and finished with 18 points on an incredible nice 6-9 shooting from beyond the arc.
Jrue Holiday📈
Jrue looks he’s taking his All-Star snub to heart (as he should!), as he dropped 27 points and 13 assists on Sunday. His scoring was incredibly efficient (11-16 from the field), and had everything from lefty floaters to step back jumpers going for him. This type of play continues an extremely encouraging trend of offensive output from Holiday.
Greg Monroe📈
In only his second game back with the franchise, Moose has earned himself an up stock with his play. First of all, can we talk about how nice is it to have a true center on the roster? Aside from Brook (PLEASE get well soon), Monroe is the only other five they’ve got, as Bobby and Giannis are both fours who have been forced to play a ton of five. So far this season, having a center get minutes has been very beneficial to Milwaukee.
Aside from just “being a really big dude”, Moose played well against the Clippers. He’s had really active hands defensively, and managed to hold his own when switched onto guards. Offensively, he didn’t force too much and managed to put up nine points on 4-6 shooting.
Jordan Nwora📉
Is that the down stock symbol? My mistake. For any NBA executives reading this, Jordan Nwora looked phenomenal on Sunday night. He truly is a generational talent and you can stop reading here!
…okay, I think they’re gone. This was a really rough performance frmm Nwora. All season long he has struggled to fit in as a role player compared to being a featured offensive piece, and that was on full display against the Clippers. He’s making terrible decisions in terms of shot selection and showcasing an inability to make reads within the flow of an offense.
The Milwaukee Bucks continue their road trip with a visit to the imploding Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday at 9:00pm central.
