Bucks Stock Market: California teams continue to lose in Wisconsin
Milwaukee overcame the presence of Ti Windisch to get the win.
The Bucks Stock Market is a fictitious market run by the GSPN crew that tracks player stock “movement” following the conclusion of every game. Here’s the spreadsheet logging the game-by-game results.
Coming off an ugly game against the Chicago Bulls the night before, the Milwaukee Bucks wrapped up their third win in a row on Saturday night against the Sacramento Kings. Though the Kings were missing their leading scorer, De’Aaron Fox, due to an ankle injury, it was good to see the Bucks get a win over an inferior opponent without the likes of Giannis and Grayson in the lineup. Let’s talk movements!
Khris Middleton📈
With no Giannis, it was Khris’s time to shine. K Midd had his second 30-point outing of the season, and was looking very aggressive in finding his shots, which has been a welcome addition over the past few weeks. He was hitting his patented tough fadeaway and tied his season-high for threes made in a game with five.
Donte DiVincenzo📈
If for nothing else alone, Donte deserves the up stock for hitting all three of his shot attempts at the rim. If DiVincenzo is making layups, his “Michael Jordan of Delaware” nickname might be underselling him! In all seriousness, this was a great performance for Donte. He seems to be getting his groove back in this system, as he was hitting his threes and making good passes while playing his normal level of defense. He was the Bucks’ third-leading scorer tonight, putting up a season-high 20 points on 60% shooting.
Jrue Holiday 📈
As the game was getting a bit close in the final minute of the fourth, Jrue Holiday had a sequence to remember. The Jruth had a thunderous driving dunk on one end, then came back and managed to save the ball off a Haliburton miss and throw it off a Kings player to maintain possession on the other end. This is the Jrue Holiday experience in a nutshell, and exactly the type of production that this team missed in his absence. Making his first start since coming back from the ankle injury, the deserving All-Star put up 26 points on 50% shooting from the field, and had five rebounds and four assists.
Mike Budenholzer📉
Are timeouts and not fouling more important than the health of your own players? With under two minutes to go in the third quarter, Wes Matthews collapsed on the court with a knee injury (get well soon). Instead of calling a timeout or telling a player to foul so that Wes could be attended to, play continued and Matthews was forced to hobble around the court for FOUR POSSESSIONS before there was a stoppage. Poor guy couldn’t even walk to the bench as he went back down to the court at the scorer’s table as soon as the stoppage occurred and he had to be helped to the locker room. This was a gross display from Bud and the coaching staff, and is a bad look for the team.
The Milwaukee Bucks have a few days off to prepare for their next game on the road against the fiesty Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday at 6:00pm central.
