Bucks Stock Market: Bucks fall below .500 with a jarring loss to the Jazz
Please get healthy soon, Jrue and Brook.
The Bucks Stock Market is a fictitious market run by the GSPN crew that tracks player stock “movement” following the conclusion of every game. Here’s the spreadsheet logging the game-by-game results.
This Milwaukee Bucks regular season was supposed to be fun! Since opening night, not so much. Milwaukee fell to 3-4, the first time the team has been under .500 this far into the season since late 2017, after keeping pace with the Utah Jazz for most of 48 minutes before ultimately falling short. In addition to being without Brook Lopez and Jrue Holiday, the Bucks lost Khris Middleton to an illness and Semi Ojeleye to scheduled rest. Of course Donte DiVincenzo remained out as well, and Rodney Hood left with a right hand contusion during the game for good measure.
P.S. Giannis please never take 11 threes in a game again once the team is healthy.
Bobby Portis 📉
Like Semi Ojeleye, Portis dodged a downstock in his first game back this season due to a knocking the rust off grace period. Also like Semi, Bobby succumbed to the downstock in his second game of the season. While he did manage to score 15 points, it took Portis 15 shots and this was not a great defensive performance from Bobby even for his standards.
Jordan Nwora 📉
Jordan Nwora has seen an increased offensive load with all of the injuries in the early part of the season, and results have been mixed so far. While he did have 2 assists and a block, Nwora was 1/5 from the field and turned the ball over twice as well. The bench desperately needs some scoring, especially with Portis still finding his groove, and Nwora has not been able to provide it on a regular basis so far this season.
I really, really hope we get a less bleak Bucks Stock Market after the team takes on the Pistons in Detroit on Tuesday night. The Bucks pieces aren’t able to fall into place with so many key players out, and I know everything will seem much better once the team finally gets healthy, but in the meantime these games are rough.
