Bucks Stock Market: Back to winning ways against Houston
Milwaukee survives a three-point avalanche to beat the Rockets.
The Bucks Stock Market is a fictitious market run by the GSPN crew that tracks player stock “movement” following the conclusion of every game. Here’s the spreadsheet logging the game-by-game results.
This game was almost a massive yikes. Sure, losing to the team who had the longest active wining streak in the league wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world, but losing because of a career-high offensive output from Garrison Matthews would have left a sour taste in the mouths of Bucks fans. Good thing this team has Giannis, who became the all-time franchise leader in blocked shots tonight, and moved into third all-time for field goals made as a Buck. Let’s talk movements!
Giannis Antetokounmpo📈
Following one of his worst games of the season on Wednesday against Miami, Giannis Antetokounmpo responded with a masterpiece against the Rockets. As this game tightening up down the stretch, the reigning Finals MVP took control and ended Houston’s winning streak. Finishing with 41 points on 78.9% shooting, 17 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks, Giannis reminded everyone that he’s that dude (but who really forgot?).
Pat Connaughton📈
This guy is insane. Need a three? Pat will hit it. Need a cutter? Pat will find a lane. Need someone to finish at the rim? Pat will make it happen. Need a project manager for real estate development? Three Leaf Development will be in contact.
DeMarcus Cousins📉
I was tempted to give Boogie an up stock purely because of how hilariously absurd it is to only play four minutes in a game because you picked up four fouls in that period, but I take this market seriously. It wasn’t just the fouls that led to this down stock though, because his foot speed issues were on full display against the quickness of Houston’s centers.
The Bucks continue their road trip on Sunday with a visit to Madison Square Garden to take on the New York Knicks at 11 a.m. central.
