Bucks Stock Market: Are Nwora and Mamu the Nets' Kryptonite?
Kevin Durant and James Harden could barely contain the back end of Milwaukee's bench.
Welcome back to the Bucks Stock Market! If you were not already aware, this is a fake market run by the GSPN squad that tracks the movement of player “stocks” following the conclusion of each Milwaukee Bucks game.
For the first time since Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Semis, the Milwaukee Bucks and Brooklyn Nets took the floor of Barclays Center. Was it just me, or did anyone else feel overwhelming dread seeing these two teams play against each other? I have said on the Gyro Step multiple times that the Brooklyn series broke my psyche, so I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised to feel stress washing over me as these teams took the floor. However, with no Giannis, Khris, Jrue, Brook, Pat, Grayson, Donte, Bobby, Hill, Semi, or Hood, that feeling quickly went away. Let’s dive into the stock movements!
Jordan Nwora 📈📈
I’ve harped on his lack of defensive and playmaking development, but my goodness he can put the ball in the basket. With the way he’s improving in rapid time, Nwora could be an elite scorer in this league.
Sandro Mamukelashvili 📈
I don’t want to overreact to preseason basketball, but I might have been wrong about Mamu. I thought he would have trouble translating his unique game to Milwaukee’s offense, but he seemed just fine against the Nets.
Georgios Kalaitzakis📉
Though he did have a very nice block on a James Harden jumper, the 60th overall pick in this year’s draft found himself out of position a few times and could not find his shot against the Nets. He even got called out by Bud following a timeout!
The Bucks will be back in Fiserv Forum on Sunday, October 10th to take on OKC in their third of five preseason games.
