Bryce Harper takes an L as the Brewers win on the road in Philadelphia
Keep the series wins coming
It’s time for local food takes with Andy, do I have BEEF with any Philadelphia foods? Nope, I love the beef and the pork. A roast pork sandwich? A cheesesteak sandwich? Both are elite. Moving onto baseball.
The Milwaukee Brewers have kept their hot streak moving forward, as they took two of three games from the Philadelphia Phillies this week. They dropped game one before winning the next two games behind some dominant starting pitching from Corbin Burnes and more elite bullpen work. Special guest Ti Windisch joined the podcast, so you can be sure it was a good time.
The Crew find themselves with a 54-43 record with a 2.5 game lead over the Reds in the NL Central. The 62-33 Atlanta Braves come to town this weekend. Can the Brewers knock off the best team in baseball? I sure hope so. Onto the beers.
Master Brewer Leaderboard (through 97 games)
(The Master Brewer Leaderboard is a season-long leaderboard tracking and ranking exceptional performances from Brewers players in the form of Master Brew Points 🍺, which at the end of the season will tally up to crown our Crewsing for a Brewsing Player of the Year.)
Corbin Burnes🍺🍺
Once again I am here to say that Corbin Burnes looks like an ace again. He outdid his last dazzling start by throwing eight scoreless innings with 10 strikeouts. Changes to his pitch mix seem to have revitalized his 2023 season. Don’t sleep on the curveball, folks.
Abner Uribe🍺🍺
Abner Uribe has been absolutely electrifying in his short Brewers tenure. He bullied the middle of the Philadelphia order this week, striking out Bryce Harper twice.
Joel Payamps🍺
Death, taxes, and Joel Payamps dominating opposing hitters. Those are all but certain in this life. There’s not much more to say about the work Payamps has done this season. Tip of the cap to you, Joel.
Elvis Peguero🍺
The same can be said for Elvis Peguero. He was once again excellent against the Phillies. What’s everyone’s favorite Elvis song? Wait, this isn’t a channel for communication. If you’ve got an answer then answer this in the discord.
Hoby Milner🍺
Hoby was the subject of another viral moment, mere weeks after he became a hero for leading some of his teammates through the New York subway system. Milner struck out Bryce Harper looking in a strange at-bat where Harper decided he just wasn’t going to swing. The victory goes to Mr. Milner.
Christian Yelich🍺
Yes, Yelich is back, we’ve said it so many times that you don’t want to hear it again. What was the best Yelich moment from this series? We’ll all agree it was the homer he crushed to give the team a 3-0 lead in the series finale.
William Contreras🍺
William Contreras went 4-for-13 at the plate with two doubles and three RBI. His contributions on Wednesday night came when the Brewers needed it most. That game he also threw in a caught stealing in the 9th inning for good measure.
Andruw Monasterio🍺
Andruw Monasterio will not stop hitting his way into this Brewers lineup. He is inevitable. Monasterio finished this series 6-for-11 with two doubles, five runs scored, and an RBI.
Brice Turang🍺
Brice Turang may not have the flashiest batting line for this series, but he is being reward for his patience. He had three walks in the series to go with his single and we like guys who get on base.
