Brewers take care of business with series win against the Angels, with help of Sal Frelick’s defensive heroics
The angel in the outfield belonged to Milwaukee
The Milwaukee Brewers made it four series wins in a row this week by taking two of three from the Los Angeles Angels. Monday’s opener felt a little sleepy, as they fell 5-3 in the second career start from Carlos Rodriguez.
Tuesday’s game saw yet another outstanding start from Tobias Myers and a 6-0 Brewers lead heading into the bottom of the 9th inning. Some shaky work from the now DFA’d Elieser Hernandez led to Trevor Megill being brought into the game with the tying run at the plate. Taylor Ward sent a ball into deep right center field, but Sal Frelick’s leaping homerun robbery helped seal the 6-3 win.
Wednesday’s finale was brightened by six scoreless innings from Freddy Peralta, who badly needed this type of performance. A Rhys Hoskins sacrifice fly in the first inning and a Willy Adames RBI single in the 8th inning proved to be enough in a 2-0 series clinching victory.
Next up is a trip to San Diego to face the Padres. Despite their middling record, they somehow always seem scary. Hopefully The Crew can come away with another conquered series.
