Brewers sweep the Mets by way of slides and steals to start the Pat Murphy era with a bang
We are so back
Milwaukee Brewers baseball is back! The Crew started the season with a bang by sweeping the New York Mets at Citi Field, shocking and delighting the Mets fans in attendance.
This series had everything. Freddy Peralta turned in a dominant performance during Friday’s rain delayed Opening Day win. Jackson Chourio, Christian Yelich, Willy Adames, and William Contreras all had good series’ at the plate, but that’s not what most will remember from this series.
Rhys Hoskins ruffled feathers with a hard slide into Jeff McNeil in Friday’s season opener and then proceeded to torment the Mets in Game 2 by going 3-for-4 with a homer and 4 runs driven in, as boos echoed the stadium every time he stood in the batter’s box. Rhys is pretty badass if we are being honest.
Because they couldn’t get Hoskins out, the Mets decided to throw at him later in the game. An ejection of pitcher Yohan Ramirez ensued and it’s safe to say these two teams do not like each other. Oh yeah, the Brewers won that game 7-6.
Sunday saw a Colin Rea special and a 4-1 win closed out by a combination of Bryan Hudson and Joel Payamps. Next up the Brewers head home for two games against the Minnesota Twins. Buckle up, folks. Baseball is back in our lives for the foreseeable future.
