Brewers suffer tough Opening Day loss to Cubs on a windy day in the Windy City
A cold, tense and ultimately disappointing start to the season
After a long wait to begin their bounceback from their NLDS loss to the Atlanta Braves that brought the curtain down on last season, and after a contentious lockout and a condensed offseason for good measure, the Milwaukee Brewers are finally back in meaningful action.
The Brewers opened up their season, and the MLB campaign as a whole, against the Cubs at Wrigley Field. And it was a day when that famous old stadium and the Chicago weather certainly played their part in producing a tense and pretty ugly game where the Brewers ultimately succumbed to a 5-4 defeat.
Andrew Snyder and I provided our immediate reaction on the latest episode of Crewsing for a Brewsing, as we discussed Corbin Burnes’ up and down day, promising signs from newcomers Andrew McCutchen, Hunter Renfroe and backup catcher Victor Catarini who may not even have had a chance to introduce himself to his teammates yet. We also touched on a rough day for Christian Yelich, and some decisions that Craig Counsell may want back.

We’ll be back on Monday before the focus switches from the Cubs to the Orioles.
