Brewers’ slide stretches to six games, plus Mark Attanasio takes on role in A’s relocation
The real losses were the friends we made along the way
I’m going to continue my habit of talking about food in the road cities the Brewers are playing in. In the Twin Cities they put cheese directly in the center of the burger patty. It gets all melted and delicious! What a great idea!
Anyway, that series wasn’t fun. The Brewers had leads in both games, but managed to lose them both. Tuesday’s was most painful. The Brewers had a 5-3 lead in the 9th inning, but Devin Williams allowed two homers in the inning, including a walk-off homer to Carlos Correa which resulted in a 7-5 loss.
On Wednesday, the Brewers were staked to an early 2-0 lead thanks to back-to-back homers from Brian Anderson and Luis Urias. A four-run 3rd inning put the Twins back in control and they’d come away with a 4-2 win.
This weekend sees the Pittsburgh Pirates come to town for three games. The winner of the series will most likely see themselves atop the NL Central on Monday. That series is followed up by three games against the NL West leading Arizona Diamondbacks.
Master Brewer Leaderboard (through 68 games)
(The Master Brewer Leaderboard is a season-long leaderboard tracking and ranking exceptional performances from Brewers players in the form of Master Brew Points 🍺, which at the end of the season will tally up to crown our Crewsing for a Brewsing Player of the Year.)
Christian Yelich🍺
I’m not going to say it. I’m going to be calm and measured. There will be no overreaction from Andy this week. Christian Yelich had a fantastic pair of games against the Twins. He finished the series 5-for-9 with two doubles, one home run, two runs, and four RBI.
Victor Caratini🍺
Single game Victor Caratini cannot be stopped, you can only hope to contain him. Victor knocked around three singles on Tuesday and scored two runs. The Brewers say they don’t like the idea of personal catchers, but I have a hard time imagining them splitting up Caratini and Corbin Burnes anytime soon.
Rowdy Tellez🍺
Could Rowdy be breaking out of his slump? Brewers fans definitely hope so. Tellez had a 3-for-9 series with three singles, but one of those singles was rocketed off the wall and could have easily been a home run. Am I searching for reasons to be optimistic? MAYBE!
Hoby Milner🍺
It was another solid series for Hoby Milner, as he returns to regular usage. Milner pitched 1.2 scoreless innings against the Twins and has lowered his season ERA to 3.16 over 25.2 innings.
Joel Payamps🍺
Joel Payamps gets a beer thanks to his flair for the dramatic. He managed to load the bases in the 8th inning on Tuesday, putting himself in a sticky situation. He decided to pitch his way out of trouble by striking out Joey Gallo in a 3-2 count.
Corbin Burnes🍺
Corbin Burnes did his best to give the Brewers a chance to win on Tuesday. Burnes fired six full innings, pitching into the 7th inning, and allowed just three runs while striking out eight Twins. He was hardly dominant, but he did his job.
