Brewers return to winning ways against the A’s on final trip to the Coliseum
See you in Sacramento, John Fisher.
The Milwaukee Brewers had a fairly successful weekend in Oakland, California as they took two of three games from the Athletics. The lineup popped off early and often on Friday night.
Rhys Hoskins’ three-run homer in the second inning kicked off the scoring and they would end up scoring double digit runs for the first time since they did it twice in three games against the Braves. Every Brewer in the lineup collected at least one hit in the 11-3 win.
Saturday saw another stellar performance from the lineup and the insurance runs came late this time. The Crew clung to a 5-4 lead going into the 8th inning, but a Garrett Mitchell bloop double in the 8th and a three-run 9th inning helped ease concerns in a 9-5 win.
The Athletics avoided the sweep on Sunday thanks to much better pitching and a CB Bucknor aided four-run 4th inning against former Athletic Frankie Montas. The Brewers still hold a 10-game lead in the NL Central and find themselves 1.5 games back of the Phillies for the two seed in the National League and 2.5 games back of the Dodgers for the top spot. Get your popcorn ready for this stretch run, folks.
After the Monday off day, the Brewers will return home briefly for three games against the San Francisco Giants.
