Brewers return to winning ways against Rays, Tyler Black arrives in the big leagues, and ump madness continues
The Brewers add a pair of wins as a meeting with Craig Counsell looms
The haters said it would be impossible to have three straight Milwaukee Brewers games where the umpires had to be questioned afterwards. The haters said they couldn’t do it…and they were wrong….bad call from the haters.
In Game 1 against the Tampa Bay Rays, Bryse Wilson dueled with Ryan Pepiot as the Brewers found themselves down 1-0 in the 9th inning. Sal Frelick appeared to have tied the game after scurrying from third to home after a dropped third strike, but Jakes Bauers’ bat made contact with catcher Rene Pinto and the play was called dead. Blake Perkins then struck out to give the Rays a 1-0 win.
Game 2 offered more fireworks. Freddy Peralta was ejected for hitting Jose Siri with a pitch in the 6th inning and things escalated further when Abner Uribe had a little disagreement with Siri in the 8th inning. The benches cleared and everyone got to put on their conflict resolution hats. Oh yeah, the Brewers were dominant in an 8-2 win.
Game 3 had no ejections and the umpires did not have to be questioned after the game. Did Kevin Cash or one of the umps throw a hissy fit over the color pattern of Thyago Viera’s glove? Yes they did, but by comparison that was a mild offense. The Brewers got an outstanding start from Colin Rea and a two homer game from Willy Adames in a 7-1 win.
Next up is a meeting with the Chicago Cubs and Darth Vader…I mean Craig Counsell. Buckle up!
