Brewers keep rolling with series win over the Reds
Brats and beer > Skyline Chili and sadness.
It was another successful series on the diamond for the Milwaukee Brewers this weekend. They welcomed the Reds to town and sent them back to Ohio with two losses. Friday saw the bats stay hot as they compiled eight runs across the first three innings in an 8-3 win. Aaron Civale also turned in his best performance as a Brewer.
Saturday was a battle of dominant pitching performances. Tobias Myers tossed 7.1 scoreless innings, while Nick Martinez nearly matched him with seven scoreless innings of his own. Rhys Hoskins broke the tie with a solo shot in the bottom of the 8th inning and Devin Williams nailed down his first save of the season by striking out the side in the 9th.
The Reds avoided the sweep with a 4-3 win on Sunday, but all things considered the Brewers will be happy to notch another series win and keep their NL Central lead at 7.5 games over the St. Louis Cardinals.
The Los Angeles Dodgers are next up on the schedule for the Brewers, as they’ll face MLB’s attempt at a “superteam” for four games this week.
