Brewers keep rolling with series win over Pirates, Rhys Hoskins set for spell on the IL
Piling up wins before the long road trip
Thursday was an off day for the Milwaukee Brewers, but also for podcasters and Substack writers. The aforementioned Milwaukee Brewers put smiles on fans faces again this week, as they took two of three games from the Pittsburgh Pirates.
It didn’t start well in Monday’s series opener, Rhys Hoskins tweaked his hamstring early and Colin Rea battled through six innings allowing just three runs, but it took the bats awhile to wake up. They eventually did wake up and Jake Bauers’ grand slam almost got The Crew all the way back into the game. In the end, the Pirates held on for an 8-6 win.
Tuesday’s game was a better outcome for those in attendance at American Family Field. The Brewers secured a 4-3 win thanks to Sal Frelick’s glove and bat, Joe Ross, and the dominant bullpen (we love you, Bryan Hudson).
The bats erupted for 10 runs in Wednesday’s early afternoon finale and Robert Gasser turned in another excellent start. The rookie left-handed pitcher looks like the real deal early in his big league career.
Next up the Brewers head to Houston for the first three games of nine straight on the road.
