Brewers get swept by the Rockies as bullpen continues to regress and offense stalls
Turn the page and move on
Well that certainly was a series containing baseball games. The Milwaukee Brewers did not have a good time in Denver, Colorado. The first two games saw the bats remain cold, as they were outscored 10-3 by the home side.
Thursday gave a glimmer of hope before the rug got pulled out from under them. A 4-0 lead was erased in a four-run 7th inning before being completely obliterated in a five-run 8th inning. A late rally would see The Crew fall 9-6.
Baseball is weird sometimes. Bad teams sweeping good teams is something that happens. Now the Brewers look to turn the page and move on. The next chapter of the book we call baseball season is three games in San Francisco against the Giants.
Master Brewer Leaderboard (through 31 games)
(The Master Brewer Leaderboard is a season-long leaderboard tracking and ranking exceptional performances from Brewers players in the form of Master Brew Points 🍺, which at the end of the season will tally up to crown our Crewsing for a Brewsing Player of the Year.)
Freddy Peralta 🍺
Freddy Peralta continues to miss bats. His 10 strikeouts against the Rockies is a season high and the only significant damage he allowed came on two solo homers.
Wade Miley 🍺
A tough 7th inning dents slightly what was an otherwise excellent outing for Miley. Miley finished his day with six completed innings, with three runs allowed, six hits, two walks, and two strikeouts.
Christian Yelich🍺
Yelich’s concerning season at the plate seems to be turning around. Yelich finished the series 5-for-12 with a homer, a double, and a walk. The power may never completely return, but if he can get back to getting on base with regularity the Brewers offense will be in a much better place.
Brice Turang🍺
Brice Turang had been slumping at the plate (never with the glove, the man is smooth on the infield dirt), but he saw some success in Colorado. Turang finished the series 4-for-8 with a pair of walks and a double.
Tyrone Taylor🍺
Welcome back, Tyrone Taylor! He only recorded one hit in the series, a home run on Thursday, but Taylor hit some balls hard and looks like he’s ready to provide a spark to this team. He provided two outfield assists in the series, throwing out runners at home plate with ease. He almost added a third assist for good measure. That elbow looks healthy.
Rowdy Tellez 🍺
Rowdy Tellez has put a slow start to the season well behind him, as he asserts himself as the most consistent hitter on the roster. Rowdy’s 4-for-12 series included a double, a home run, two RBI, and one run scored.
