Brewers fall to Nationals to make it three consecutive series losses
This was the least enjoyable few days in DC since early January 2021.
The Milwaukee Brewers lost their third series in a row over the weekend by dropping two of three games to the Washington Nationals. You can add the Nationals to the list of teams that annoy the hell out of Brewers fans, joining the Miami Marlins and the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field.
Friday’s opener was the lone bright spot. Frankie Montas scattered nine hits and allowed three runs in a mostly solid Brewers debut and the bats piled up eight runs in an 8-3 win.
Saturday’s rough Aaron Civale start put the Brewers in a 4-0 hole early and they trailed 6-1 heading into the top of the 7th inning. Rhys Hoskins homered in the 7th, Jackson Chourio scored on a wild pitch in the 8th, and Gary Sanchez followed with an RBI single to cut the deficit to two runs. However, that was all the scoring The Crew would do in the loss.
Sunday saw another 4-0 hole and another too little too late clawback effort. A three-run 8th inning made it 4-3 Nats entering the 9th inning, but again the Brewers would fall short.
Next up is three games in Atlanta against the hot and cold Braves. Both teams could use a series win to get them back on track.
