Brewers drop 2 of 3 to the Kansas City Royals, but Christian Yelich makes his return to the lineup
Yelich returns to the lineup while we await Adam's return
We’re back! Well, sort of. No, we weren’t ducking Craig Counsell and the Chicago Cubs after they took two of three games from our beloved Milwaukee Brewers.
If you’re in our discord you know my co-host Adam is on the IL and recovering from surgery. Adam and I have known each other for nearly a decade now and he’s one of my dearest friends. If you’re reading this that means you’re his friend too. Let’s all send him positive vibes and well wishes as he recovers. The podcast just isn’t the same without my pal.
I’m back in the saddle talking Brewers baseball with a special guest as we continue to let Adam rest up and heal. Game 1 in Kansas City ended in sour fashion, a 2-0 Brewers lead evaporated as Jared Koenig and Elvis Peguero combined to allow three Royals runs in a disastrous 7th inning. The Royals would hold on to win 3-2.
Game 2 saw roles reversed. In the top of the 9th inning a Brewers rally was capped by a two-out Willy Adames three-run homer that took the game from 5-3 Royals to 6-5 Brewers. After catching the Adames homer in the away bullpen, Trevor Megill pitched a scoreless bottom of the 9th to close things down.
Game 3 started as a back and forth affair. The Brewers scored in the top of the first on back to back doubles to go up 1-0. The Royals answered immediately with a leadoff double, a Blake Perkins misread fly-ball, and back to back sacrifice flies. A rusty Joel Payamps allowed three runs in the 8th to push the deficit to 6-2. Despite a pair of runs in the top of the 9th, The Crew couldn’t complete the comeback and would lose 6-4.
Next up is a return home for four games against the St. Louis Cardinals.
