Brewers avoid the sweep in tough road series against the San Diego Padres
San Diego was arguably TOO classy.
The Milwaukee Brewers endured their first series loss in quite some time over the weekend, as the San Diego Padres took the first three games of a four-game series. It felt brutal in the moment, but we can all breathe a sigh of relief that they did not get swept (or mopped if you listen to Cespedes Family BBQ).
Game 1 saw a valiant Brewers comeback fall short after Jake Cronenworth’s two strike/two out walk-off homer in the bottom of the 9th inning. Cronenworth was not done, he also decided to hit another homer and go 5-for-5 in Friday’s 9-5 Padres win. Leave us alone, Jake!
Saturday made it three losses in a row for The Crew, a rocky fourth inning from Carlos Rodriguez put them in a 4-0 hole that they could not climb out of. Brice Turang’s 9th inning grand slam was nice to see, but the comeback ultimately fell short in a 6-4 loss.
Milwaukee stopped the bleeding on Sunday thanks to another good outing from Tobias Myers and a five run second inning against Michael King. In the end they’d come away with a 6-2 victory.
After the 3-4 west coast trip, the Brewers will now return home for three games against the Texas Rangers. After an off day on Thursday, Craig Counsell’s Cubs will once again make a trip to American Family Field.
