Brew Crew drop 2 of 3 in LA against the Dodgers as do or die stretch in the season is upon us
The road ahead is paved with opponents with records below .500.
Hey, it turns out the Los Angeles Dodgers are good at baseball. The Milwaukee Brewers entered this week’s series at Dodger Stadium hoping to surpass their feat of taking 2-of-4 games from baseball’s best team last week. Alas, it was not to be.
The series started off positively. Monday night the Brewers got great work from Eric Lauer and the bullpen, a Luis Urias solo homer, and a flurry of 9th inning runs on their way to a 4-0 win.
Game’s 2 and 3 would not follow as pleasant a script. Neither Corbin Burnes nor Adrian Houser were at their best as the Brewers fell 10-1 and 12-6 to round out the series. There’s not much else to say. The Dodgers are good and baseball is baseball.
Adam and Andrew recap the series and look ahead to 18 consecutive games against teams with records below .500.
Master Brewer Leaderboard (through 123 games)
(The Master Brewer Leaderboard is a season-long leaderboard tracking and ranking exceptional performances from Brewers players in the form of Master Brew Points 🍺, which at the end of the season will tally up to crown our Crewsing for a Brewsing Player of the Year.)
Christian Yelich 🍺
Despite the lack of power, Yelich’s consistency in getting on base has been something of note this season and that doesn’t appear to be changing. He finished the series 4-for-12 with a double, one RBI, and a run scored. He also had a stellar outfield assist to throw out a runner at the plate in Game 1.
Willy Adames 🍺
Willy Adames had a tough defensive series, but a big Game 3 with the bat has earned him a beer. Adames was nearly the entire Brewers offense in Wednesday’s finale. He finished 3-for-4 with a walk, a double, a homer, two runs scored, and three RBI.
Eric Lauer 🍺
Eric Lauer was vocal about the mood in the clubhouse after the series against the Chicago Cubs, leading to much discussion and speculation around Brewers Twitter. He responded in a big way by shutting out the Dodgers in five innings, setting the stage for a 4-0 Brewers win.
Peter Strzelecki 🍺
Strzelecki is quietly having an excellent season for the Brewers. He was also easily the most reliable reliever in this series against the Dodgers. The 1.2 scoreless innings he provided has moved his season total to 16.2. Across those innings he has a 2.70 ERA and a 2.16 FIP.
