Another opportunity missed as Brewers offense fails to fire against the Diamondbacks
A winning streak would be nice right about now.
Hey, that wasn’t fun! The Milwaukee Brewers once again failed to take advantage of a team below them in the NL Wild Card standings. That being said, the Diamondbacks are one of the hottest teams in baseball right now.
The offense was the source of the problem in this series. The Brewers lost three of four games to the aforementioned Diamondbacks, with their lineup scoring a combined two runs in those losses.
At least the lone win was exciting. Rowdy Tellez hit a game-tying homer in the 9th to send things to extra innings. Tyrone Taylor would follow that with a go-ahead homer in the 10th inning, leading Milwaukee to an 8-6 win.
The Brewers are not out of the wild card race just yet, in fact they didn’t even lose any ground this weekend, but soon they’ll need to make their run to pass the Phillies/Padres or they’ll run out of time.
Adam and Andrew have a therapy session about the season and vent a little bit.
Master Brewer Leaderboard (through 133 games)
(The Master Brewer Leaderboard is a season-long leaderboard tracking and ranking exceptional performances from Brewers players in the form of Master Brew Points 🍺, which at the end of the season will tally up to crown our Crewsing for a Brewsing Player of the Year.)
Rowdy Tellez 🍺
Rowdy Tellez can be relied on in late moments, that much is clear. His 9th inning pinch-hit homer gave the Brewers late life on Saturday night. I wonder if they would take advantage of his clutch moment?
Tyrone Taylor 🍺
The Brewers sure would take advantage of Rowdy’s clutch 9th inning homer. Tyrone Taylor’s Manfred Ball homer would turn out to be a game-winner for the Brewers and was also his second home run of the game. Have a day, Tyrone.
Jace Peterson 🍺
It’s nice to see Jace Peterson back and getting on base. He finished the series 4-for-9 with a walk. A Peterson power surge like we saw earlier this season would be a fun ingredient to add to this stretch run.
Eric Lauer 🍺
Eric Lauer bounced back from his most recent start to give the Brewers hope on Friday. Lauer pitched 6.2 innings with two earned runs, no walks, and five strikeouts. Unfortunately the run support for him just never materialized.
