An Early Autopsy of the 2024 Green Bay Packers
The Green Bay Packers' 2024 season has come to a close and the promise of a bigger leap goes unfulfilled.
The Green Bay Packers came into this 2024 NFL season with plenty of promise and with the confidence that they would be able to deliver on that come January. And in February too, if everything went to plan.
Over the four months that followed from when they opened their 2024 season against the Philadelphia Eagles in Sao Paolo, Brazil, the Packers rarely followed a straight line. With an 11-6 record, there’s no question that they were an improved team from 2023.
The key free agents — Xavier McKinney and Josh Jacobs — that were brought in specifically to take them to the next level both flourished in new surroundings. A draft class that saw up-and-coming prospects like Edgerrin Cooper, Javon Bullard play their way into getting plenty of snaps by season’s end. A defense that often underperformed its potential previously grew in stature under first-year defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley. All of it helped the Packers assert their rise.
All of that is true, and yet their season came to an unceremonious end Sunday afternoon in Philadelphia.
